A shout out to Parts Unknown over at the W (click thru on your right) for his review of last night's American Idol - I am sure that JayJayDean will chime in soon with his weekly must read too.........and on to my review.......

Kat - when are Idol contestants ever going to learn that you should never ever pick a Whitney Houston, Mariah ("Dawg, I worked with Mariah")Carey or Celine Dion ? The judges will kill you no matter how well you sing....that said, Kat looked great and sang the song really well....and Kat sings Opera too and yes, I have McFeever...

Elliott -Where was all this judge love coming from and who's medication did Paula scarf down this evening ? MSNBC reported this morning that She & Seacrest are having a behind the scenes feud - but back to Elliott - sounded fine but wasn't great - like I said on Song Book night - he can make some coin doing this genre.

Kellie - what is that growing out of the center of your hair ? She hits the high note and the raccoon moves out of my attic, mice flee the basement and today I will play it over & over again outside to see if it can get rid of the woodpecker too. Even her review/vote clip has her killing the high note. For the 2nd week in a row she butchers her song and knows it. She is this year's Nikki McKibben - no real talent but a fanatic southern voting bloc - she should go home.

Paris - she plays dress up as Dionne Warwick this week and gives us some Babs - not bad but not great and certainly unbelievable but then again if Renee Olstead of Still Standing (amazon.com) can sell records in this genre and at the same age then Paris can too. Her fans are still going to have to step up.

Taylor - He needs the Soul Patrol - that performance barely had enough for the review/vote clip at the end.

Chris - I'm not a fan but that was very well done. Now he just needs your calls & text messages.....

My Bottom 3 - Kellie, Taylor, Paris but Kellie & Taylor are safe due to the fanatics who back them

America's Bottom 3 - Paris, Elliott & Katharine with Paris saying good-bye only because I don't think she has the bloc of voters to pull her through....

more on the Rangers, LOST and other things I thunked about this morning at 4am and again on the train later......

swampy abides......
